AI art. Is it here to brutally slay all the creatives?

A “social media friend” was using an app called Wonder. I liked what I saw and decided to try it out. It cost me about 30 bucks for a lifetime pass. I had been looking for a way to dip my toe into the AI art pool. I downloaded it and was immediately up till 1am, feeding prompts to my new AI overlord. It had me at; “ENTER A PROMPT. ANYTHING. ANY DETAIL. ADD YOUR DREAMS.” You can even pop in a photo to see where it takes it. You can tell it to do it in the style of H.R. Geiger, Frida Kahlo or Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The algorithm, or whatever it is, does iteration after iteration of whatever your typed words can elicit from this art god… and it does it relatively well and without rest. Obviously, it has its limits, for now. What it creates varies greatly in quality. There is really amazing stuff, there is really weird stuff but the weird stuff can be really good stuff too.

On your right, you’ll see a nice bunch of gals who like to party. The prompts I used are below the picture. It turned out a little weird, right? Just off enough to know their parents were Lanisters. These gals don’t really exist. Calm down.

Below the Lanisters is beautiful render of a lion. This image is arguably flawless compared to the Lanisters.

All that being said, both images were fun to make, they saved me from sketching things out to see if I like the direction or not. You get to pick up a on a few details along the way. If I decide to draw this lion, I could use that 3 part antler set up that he has on his dome. I probably would have just done a two part antler like you see on elk. Very regal.

My point is nobody will be hanging up the Lanister girls in their home. You could make a funny card out of it, maybe. Artists are not going obsolete.

Not by a long shot. I think humanity just got a powerful new tool to mess around with and to try out ideas. If you are letting it inspire you, you’re adapting to the ever changing world and staying relevant. If you are terrified of it and angry, your fears may be realized.

One more fun fact. I use AI to generate all my blog post art unless I’m showing a real completed piece, obviously.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to see what a Zombie Jesus Plush Toy would look like.

I prompted: Beer. Cheers. Celebrate.

I prompted: Regal lion with antlers.
